Learning To Parent By Example

Today’s blog post is another sponsored post written by my friend Alex at thebergerbungalow.com. Feel free to check her blog out here.

As parents, we are in charge of raising our kids to grow into functioning adults. Adults that are kind, honest, and hardworking individuals. It’s important to lead with our words as well as lead by example. Telling your kid not to do something does nothing for them if they see you doing it. Leading by example isn’t always easy. We face challenges everyday that force us to practice what we preach. For example, it’s hard to teach your kid about being kind when you just gave the idiot driving beside you the middle finger. Children will do what they see you doing. It’s up to us parents to make sure we’re setting a good example. Below are a few lessons you can teach your kids by SHOWING them.

Your passions are important
Following your passion is always important. It’s easy to get consumed in the mediocre job that you hate, because it pays the bills. Making time for your own passion lets your kids know what it’s okay for them to do the same.

Honesty is key
I teach my kids that the ugly truth is better than a pretty lie.

It is okay to get help
Everyone struggles and that is okay. Some struggle with learning, while others struggle with building relationships, finding out what they want to do, or even paying the bills. This is okay. Let’s look at a financial struggle, for example. Finding jobs that pay well are hard pretty sparse right now and I know many people that struggle to pay the bills. Luckily, there are places that can help when someone is in this situation, such as Chapes-JPL. Chapes-JPL is located in Atlanta, Georgia, right in the heart of Buckhead. You may look at their website and think that they are just a typical pawn shop, but that is not the case at all. Instead, they pay 2 to 3 times more than the average pawn shop, have some of the lowest interest rates in the industry, do not charge a security, storage, or insurance fee, and actually understand the value of your jewelry (or other prized possession) in exchange for a loan. In addition, Chapes-JPL is a trusted name in asset-based lending for over thirty years and they provide a discreet and comfortable setting for their clients. They understand that some people need help when it comes to their finances and they are committed to providing the best and safest service possible. I believe that we need to be more open when we are in a pinch and need help and this is why places such as Chapes-JPL are there to help by offering a private and secure place to help meet your needs. Showing our kids that we do struggle and we can get help is essential because it is way too easy nowadays to get in a pinch and dig yourself a deeper hole. Let’s avoid that by getting help when we need it!

Treat everyone with respect
Respect is limited these days and I think we need to do something to fix that. It is important to focus on respect in your household, before you can teach your children to extend it to everyone.
