Living Single: Thoughts of A Reformed Savage.

Living Single: Thoughts of A Reformed Savage.

“Savages are just people afraid to admit that they want to love and be loved.” I don't remember where I read that, but it stuck with me. At 26, I’ve been engaged twice, married once, and I've indulged in my fair share of shenanigans . When it comes to my love life, I'm really just out here winging it. I used to joke about my love life being cursed, but I’m starting to question if that’s really a thing. At this point, I’ve been in every romantic situation that you could think of. I’ve been the girlfriend, I’ve been the wife, I’ve been the ... Read More...

Happy New Year!! 2017 has come and gone and now its time to embrace 2018 and all of it's adventures. My New Years resolution is to reflect on the challenges I faced in 2017, and to do better and be better. 2017 was extremely tough for me. I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, lost my job, and struggled with depression. I started the year on cloud 9 and ended it at rock bottom. On the bright side, the only place to go from here is UP! 12 Things I Learned In 12 Months Stop internalizing issues. January When someone shows ... Read More...

Parenting With Depression and Anxiety

Parenting With Depression and Anxiety

So, I’ve already opened up to you all about my battle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder in my Black Girls Have Anxiety too post, but I didn’t go into detail about the struggles that come along with it. I’m currently writing this post in the middle of one of my “episodes.” I’ve been anxious and in a mood all week and I just cannot shake this feeling. I’m hoping that writing this will kind of ease some of these emotions running rampant in my head. I also hope that this may help others currently going through the same thing. Just to bring you all ... Read More...

What My Father’s Absence Taught Me

September 12, 2017

What My Father’s Absence Taught Me

I believe wholeheartedly that how a man treats his daughter affects the way she views herself and how she lets other people (especially men) treat her. I grew up in a single parent home. My mom raised me and my sister with little to no help from either of our fathers. She never complained, she never bashed our fathers, and she taught us to respect them despite them not being there. Now that I have two daughters of my own, I see what my mother went through. I feel the resentment and the tiredness she must've felt. It's not fair for two people to ... Read More...

Reasons You Should Not Date A Single Mother

Reasons You Should Not Date A Single Mother

Dating in 2017 is hard, dating in 2017 when you're a 26 year old single mother is harder. I'm either being approached by little boys with nothing to offer, or I'm being pursued by men with great careers who think they're better than me. It's enough to make anyone buy a lifetime supply of batteries and call it a day.  A few months ago, I was happy. I thought I found my unicorn. He was educated, ambitious, and kind of cute depending on the angle. We got along perfectly. We were two nerds in a pod, until one day he compared me having children to ... Read More...

Blogger Recognition Awards

It's been two months since I published my first blog post and I've learned so much since then. I've even made a few new friends in the blogging community. Last week, Growing Girls With Curls was nominated for TWO awards, the Liebster Award and the Blogger Recognition Award. I was nominated by Makaela from UniquelyMickie.com and Kerri from Kerriandthebusylife. Both of these ladies are amazing bloggers and I'm so thankful that they both chose me. Since The Liebster Award and the Blogger Recognition Award have similar rules, I've decided to ... Read More...
